As an Italian eTwinning Ambassador , I had the opportunity to organise eTwinning 10th Anniversary celebrations at my school “I.I.S. don L.Milani” in Gragnano, during the Festival of Europe last 9th May.
I started the preparation inviting some schools of my district to join the meeting in order to share their experience in eTwinning and to provide real examples to teachers, beginners in eTwinning, about how to involve their students in motivating projects to develop the European competences needed in the 21st century.
To tell my experience as a member of the eTwinning Community since 2007, I could rely on a large number of students who had been working in different projects during their school years- some of them awarded with National Prizes and European Quality Labels- and most of all I was able to get in touch with the students who participated in my first eTwinning project in 2008/2009.
In the meanwhile I started planning the different activities to be held at school: 2nd class students’ Human Logo and a wishing video; 5th class students’ flag parade; balloons and Chinese lanterns launching and the final “AperiTwinning” with Italian homemade specialties cooked by the students themselves. Among the schools, I really appreciated the presence of Mrs Gamen, teacher at IIS “A. Tilgher” in Ercolano – Naples, one of the first to join eTwinning in 2005, together with her Belgian partners and their students
and the presence of some pupils and teachers of the local Elementary School “G. Ungaretti”, who had the possibility- thanks to this celebration- to be introduced in the eTwinning community
With a European mood of collaboration, “old” and “new” members of the eTwinning family jointly wished:”Happy birthday, eTwinning, and many more!”
